What to Look For When Choosing a Juicer

Choosing a juicer is not as simple as going out and buying one. Spend time researching what's out there to avoid buying a dummy!

There are several questions you have to ask yourself.

What price can you afford?

If you are after a budget juicer, you would be looking for either a blender - juicer combination or a basic centrifugal juicer. If you are after a more expensive and more reliable juicer, a masticating juicer may be a sensible option.

What do you want to juice?

Do you mind chopping everything up before hand or would you rather put whole fruits and vegetables into the juicer? Medium budget centrifugal juicers can usually take whole fruits but cheaper models typically cannot juice whole fruits.

Masticating juicers can typically take whole fruits as well as wheatgrass.

How much space do you have?

It might sound crazy but most centrifugal juicers require a lot of space. Masticating juicers typically are smaller but are more expensive.

How easy is it to clean?

Some centrifugal juicers are awkward to clean and consist of several parts that have to be washed regularly. If you have a dishwasher, this may help reduce the amount of hand washing you need to do!

Who is going to use the juicer?

Is it just one person or is it a family? Smaller centrifugal juicers are ideal for one person use whereas you may wish to consider a masticating juicer if you are power juicing.

How long do you want it to last?

Like most things, the more expensive it is, the longer it should last or the better the warranty that comes with it. Cheaper centrifugal juicers may not last long as their motors aren't designed for heavy usage. Masticating juicers tend to be more expensive but more reliable.
